The Worcester Red Sox and UMass Memorial Health partner to bring fans the heartwarming Home Run for Life program. Each season, we help tell the stories of brave children who, with the help of their families, physicians and health care team, are presently battling or have successfully overcome significant medical events in their young life.
During each Home Run for Life, we host the honoree and his/her support team of family, friends, doctors, and UMass Memorial Health representatives in a luxury suite. The honoree gets VIP treatment including WooSox souvenirs, a chance to meet and get autographs from WooSox players, and a tour of Polar Park.
Each honoree is recognized on the field during an inning break. The honoree, their family and support team are taken onto the field and the honoree gets to take a symbolic lap around the bases to a standing ovation from the crowd.
A real "super hero" from Gardner, MA, Jameson LaLiberte (18) rounded the bases on "Marvel's Defenders of the Diamond" Day at Polar Park on Sunday, August 7, 2022.
After learning of Jameson's interest and studies in film production, the WooSox offered the young man a job with WooSox Productions for 2023!
In and out of hospitals and emergency rooms his whole young life, Jamison Pope (11) has faced more battles than any child should ever be asked to endure. But with his indomitable spirit and unrelenting cheerfulness, there he was, on Worcester's own field of dreams at Polar Park, taking a victory lap of health this last August.
May his family's inspiring courage, coupled with continued extraordinary care from UMass Memorial Health, lead him to a fruitful and rewarding life - in which more dreams come true.
