The Delmarva Shorebirds wrapped up Community Fund Weekend with their annual Float For The Fund event. The Shorebirds and local dignitaries work together to serve root beet floats to fans with proceeds going to the Fly Together Fund. For $8, fans got a Jackson Holliday mug and unlimited refills! The event contributed to the $29,000 raised for the Fly Together Fund throughout the season.
The Delmarva Shorebirds' Fly Together Fund, established during the summer of 2009, is designed to help fund local community projects, with a focus on supporting local youth and youth sports. Each season your Shorebirds donate thousands of dollars in merchandise and tickets to non-profit organizations, and now, thanks to the support of the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore, the team can raise cash funds, which will all be put back into the community in the form of cash donations.
The charitable fund reflects our commitment to strengthen our community using Arthur W. Perdue Stadium and family fun as a backdrop. It will also enable local businesses to make tax-deductible donations in their efforts to support youth projects in the area.
Monies raised by the Shorebirds Community Fund will go to benefit youth sports programs, although the fund will not be limited to this. Most area charitable organizations will be considered as potential beneficiaries of the fund.
The Fly Together Fund has been used for many organizations, little leagues, and projects over the years. The Shorebirds take pride in being active in our community and will continue to help grow our surrounding areas through the support of the Fly Together Fund.

The Shorebirds wear a variety of themed jerseys every season that fans are able to bid on with the winning bidder receiving the game-worn and autographed jersey right after the game. Each auction is tied to a charity raising funds for multiple local organizations on Delmarva. This year, the Shorebirds wore 8 different jerseys, raising $51,250 for 7 different charities.
At the end of the season, the Shorebirds occasionally have spare food left over from concessions. This year, that food was taken and donated to Halo Ministry’s Café to help feed the less fortunate in the Salisbury area. These food items included scrapple, cheese, chips, and other items. The donation was equal to $450 and will help Halo continue their mission.
