Star Wars Night Scheduled For September 8

Bridgewater, New Jersey – The Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate, will host their annual Star Wars Night at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday, September 8 for the 6:35 pm game against the Erie SeaWolves (Detroit Tigers).
There will be a scripted Star Wars show beginning during pre-game and running throughout the game.
Fans will be able to meet Star Wars fan costumers and take pictures with them on the main concourse throughout the game.
Characters currently scheduled to appear are:
- Darth Vader
- Stormtroopers
- Princess Leia
- Obi Wan Kenobi
- Jawas
- And more to be announced!
Patriots players and coaches will be wearing exclusive Star Wars themed jerseys as voted on by fans online. The chosen jerseys featuring Darth Vader on the front and Storm Troopers on the back, will be auctioned off through an online auction to benefit The Brooke Healey Foundation and their work to fight pediatric cancer. The auction will start Friday, September 1 and end on Sunday, September 10 at 9:00 pm.
Throughout the night, fans will be able to enjoy music and clips from the Star Wars films, participate in a themed scavenger hunt, and more activities and entertainment to be announced throughout the planning of this year’s event.
Fans are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Star Wars characters for the game.
About The Brooke Healey FoundationThe Brooke Healey Foundation was created to build awareness and raise funds for research for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG); to help families dealing with pediatric cancers, especially brain cancers and DIPG; to foster community relationships and to promote involvement through scholarships awarded to civically active high school seniors. The Foundation exists in honor of five-year-old Brooke Healey, daughter of Steve and Stefani, who was diagnosed with DIPG, an inoperable, very aggressive tumor in the middle of the brain stem. She passed away on September 9, 2013.
