El 17 de septiembre de 2023, el final de la temporada en casa de los WooSox, el propio alcalde Joe Petty le entregó a Fitzgerald una llave de la ciudad de Worcester. Apenas unas horas después, entró en el Clubhouse de los WooSox para lo que no sabía que sería una de las últimas veces.
