WORCESTER, MA – The WooSox begin the unofficial “second half” of their home season on the Fourth of July, when the club will begin to roll out new features, additions, and menu items. The WooSox played the 75th game of their 150-game schedule Thursday, June 30, in Rochester – the exact halfway point of their schedule. Worcester has 27 home games remaining at Polar Park through September 25.

Among the Second Half Initiatives are these “Sweet 16”:

  1. “GET YOUR PEANUTS!” Vendors in the seating bowl offering a variety of concession products for fans to receive from the convenience of their seats.
  2. IN-SEAT SERVICE: Expanded in-seat service for all Field Box fans with new menu items that can be ordered and delivered in their seats.
  3. “I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW” Drink rails along the concourse edge of the seating bowl will be lowered to allow for better viewing, and swivel chairs with backs will be added in drink rail areas, including in areas for disabled seating.
  4. THE OLD SCOREBOARD IS NEW AGAIN: The line-score scoreboard that was on the Worcester Wall in 2021 will be reinstalled to the center field side of the new right field video board. A clock and a temperature reading will also be part of the line-score board.
  5. WE ALL SCREAM: In an effort to meet high demand for soft serve ice cream, the club has doubled the machines to reduce waits for these fan favorites.
  6. EVEN MORE ICE CREAM: In addition to soft serve, the club has added fresh hand-scooped ice cream, with a variety of toppings, at the First Base Plaza. Fans can enjoy chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and mint chocolate chip flavors.
  7. EVEN MORE COTTON CANDY: Polar Park has doubled the cotton candy locations—adding on the First Base Plaza to the one in the left field corner.
  8. ICED, ICED COFFEE: The Sherwood Diner now features iced coffee (with a variety of flavors) as well as hot coffee, along with Cake Pops, Cupcake Parfaits, French Macarons, and Dipped Oreos. Run by popular local Creative Cakes Café, the offerings have made the climate-controlled Diner a new hot spot—and cool spot.
  9. MUSIC TO YOUR EARS: The Summit Street Fair, which opens at 5 p.m. on 6:45 p.m. games, now has daily live music before every game. Balloon artists, stilt walkers, and magicians add to the festive atmosphere.
  10. LOVELY (WOO)RITA AND SANGRIA AT WORMTOWN: The Wormtown Brewery stand on Summit Street now has two ready to drink canned cocktails just for Polar Park called Mass Spiked with the two flavors: WooRita and Sangria. Wormtown has also added new draft beer selections and unique cocktails.
  11. LIGHT UP CUPS: Fans can now order drinks in WooSox logo cups that light up in red and blue. Once you see it, you’ll understand.
  12. NEW PLAYER MERCH: The WooSox Team Store will offer new garb featuring several WooSox players. T-shirts featuring pitcher Brayan Bello and first baseman Tristan Casas will go on sale now, and later, apparel with designs hand-picked by infielder Ryan Fitzgerald will hit the racks. New Fourth of July caps and shirts are also available now. Fans can also wrap themselves in WooSox Marvel Superheroes garb, and can support the club’s efforts to Go Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness, and Pride Night.
  13. THE PAWSOX ARE BACK: The WooSox honor their Pawtucket and Rhode Island heritage July 9 when players don their actual PawSox jerseys & caps.
  14. HOT OFF THE PRESS: The WooSox Baseball Bulletin (“WBB”) will be sent to fans every Monday to recap the week that was and the week ahead for the WooSox on the field.
  15. BOOK THE BOARD ROOM: A beautiful new Board Room, fit for meetings, luncheons, and dinners ranging from approximately 10-40 people, debuts in the second half. In a sneak preview, the WooSox partners tested out the new event space, adjacent to the DCU Club, on Wednesday, June 29. Floor to ceiling windows showcase the College of the Holy Cross and the expansive development transforming the area south of Madison Street. The Board Room is open on both game days and non-game days.
  16. “SO WAS THE TURNPIKE FROM STOCKBRIDGE TO BOSTON” In addition to reaching out southward to our Rhode Island friends and family, the WooSox continue their regional outreach eastward to Framingham, westward to Springfield, southward to Connecticut, and northward to Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. The second half has more “Town Takeovers,” which honor cities and towns and raise funds for their charities.

The club invites fans to continue to add ideas and suggestions by sending emails to [email protected].

“We are proud of the ballpark and its reception in Worcester and all of Massachusetts,” WooSox Chairman and Principal Owner Larry Lucchino said. “Fans are telling us that we have hit the ‘sweet spot’ in our efforts to build a ballpark that looks and feels and smells and tastes like Worcester. But ballparks are living organisms, and we want to make it even more pleasing, both for city residents and for the thousands who are coming from all over a new, broad region.”
